Privacy

Canal Planner is run by Towpath Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 16913912). This page explains what happens to your data when you use it.

What we don't collect

There are no accounts and no forms. Your boat size and the trips you plan stay in your own browser (in its local storage) and are never sent to us.

Analytics, only if you allow it

If you tap "Allow analytics", we load Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. Google sets cookies to tell visits apart. We don't use it for advertising, and we've turned off advertising signals. If you choose "No thanks", or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Google Analytics is never loaded.

Server logs

Like any website, our server records requests (address, time, page and browser) to keep the site running and secure. We keep them for a short time and don't use them to profile anyone.

Map and place data

Waterways, locks, services and places come from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). Size limits come from the Canal & River Trust and the Environment Agency (Open Government Licence).
